The victim of the shooting has been identified as Alexander M. Thomas of the 100 block of Skyview Drive, Shrewsbury Borough, according to an update release by the York County Coroner's office.

A 26-year-old Maryland man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 23-year-old Shrewsbury man and injuring a 38-year-old woman from New Freedom, Pennsylvania State Police announced on Monday, May 22, 2023.
Zachary Tyler Piccolo, of Nottingham was identified by witnesses and arrested in a coordinated effort by the Pennsylvania State Police York, and the Baltimore County Police Department Precinct 9 (White Marsh) Homicide Unit and the Tactical Section, according to PSP.
The deadly shooting happened in 4000 block of Steltz Road, Shrewsbury Township, at 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2023, police said.
Immediately after the shooting Piccolo "fled the scene in a vehicle," police stated in the release.
Upon arrival troopers found the PA man dead "from apparent gunshot wounds," along with a the PA woman who was taken to WellSpan York Hospital, police explained.
The York County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene and will be conducting an autopsy on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.
The York County DA’s Office "was notified and kept apprised as the investigation developed," according to the police.
Piccolo was charged with the following, according to the police:
- Criminal homicide.
- Attempted homicide.
- Recklessly endangering another person.
- Aggravated Assault.
